On paper, we are an international community of emerging artists who follow Jesus. But, there's more to how this all began.
the real story of one
2016 – “We've hit something...”
We started our first three-month artist residency program in Barcelona, Spain. It felt like we had tripped across a string connected to thousands of other strings that wrapped around the world and began to reverberate. That was when we realized a call had gone out to the artist, an assignment. And all over the world others were hearing the same call.
2018 – 2019 “Your Salsa"
We expanded into a nine-month residency and the artists traveled across Ålesund, Norway; Baltimore, USA; and Barcelona, Spain. ONE hit the next level through marrying multiple communities with different strengths together. Because collaboration is everything. The real magic happens when we are each in our salsa — doing what we were made to do.2020-2022 – “The Flow”
We moved to online programs for two years (you all know why), and as the world began opening up again, we were preparing to return to a nine-month residency. However, it became clear that this wasn’t the next move. Instead of forcing the old structure, we prayed and pivoted. Because this isn’t a program — it’s a river. Where is the Spirit moving? That’s where we want to go.
2022-2025 – “The Dinner Party"
We pivoted to two-week residencies in Barcelona, Spain, and Herrnhut, Germany. For the first time we incorporated elaborate dinner parties, and we experienced how hospitality and celebration mirror the wedding we are all waiting for. Artists, you take us Home in a way nothing else has the capacity to do. You lead us into communion — into a place where we no longer know whether we are on earth or in heaven.
2025–now – “What's cooking?”
Expansion. After operating through another nonprofit's platform for 10 years, we have finally become our own nonprofit! We are ready to launch new services, go into deeper waters, and keep exploring the depths of what this call of the artist means.

WHAT DOES ONE DO?
ONE runs programs with artists for artists... ultimately unto culture. We run in-person residencies and online spaces that gather, mentor, and equip emerging artists as they enter into the creative sector.
